Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955. His parents were Joanne Simpson and Adulfattah Jandali, but they were not married and his mother put him up for adoption. Clara and Paul Jobs adopted him and named him. They lived in Mountain View within California's Silicone Valley. Paul showed Steven how to reconstruct after taking apart electronics. He was very smart, but did not like the way he was taught in schools. He was a prankster and had to be bribed to study, yet he still made high test scores. After seeing this his principle wanted to skip him up to high school, but his foster parents declined this. When Steven went to college he dropped out in only one semester and spent the next 18 months dropping in on creative classes. In 1974 Job went to work as a game designer for Atari. Several months later he left to go to India to experiment with psychedelic drugs.
In 1976 Steven and Steve Wozniak began Apple Computers. The business started in Steven's garage and to pay for supplies he had to sell his Volkswagen and Wozniak had to sell his scientific calculator. Their partnership got them known for making computers smaller, cheaper, and accessible in everyday life. Since Job made so much money he looked to John Sculley for expert marketing advice. The next several products had to have recalls because of flaws. So IBM sales surpassed Apple's. Then they came up with a new computer, and though it had good reviews it did not become more famous than IBM's computers.
Sculley thought that Jobs was hurting the Apple company. In 1985 Jobs resigned from being the Apple's CEO to begin a new hardware business called NeXT. The following year Jobs purchased an animation company which soon became Pixar Animation Studios, which produced many famous movies. Pixar Studios later merged with Disney in 2006. Apple eventually bought NeXT in 1997 for $429 million and Jobs got his job back. Jobs put Apple back on track by changing many things. In 2003 Jobs discovered that he had a neuroendocrine tumor, a form of pancreatic cancer which was easily able to be operated on. Instead of having immediate surgery Jobs watched what he ate while weighing Eastern treatment options. Finally in 2004 he had a successful surgery. In recent years Apple has had a great time releasing iPods and other items that different companies tried to compete with. in 2008 iTunes became the second biggest music retailer in America. In 2009 reports came about Steve having health issues again because he had a hormone imbalance. When he was 23 Jobs fathered a daughter with his girlfriend. Jobs daughter came to live with him when she was a teenager. In 1990 Jobs met Laurene Powell and married her.
